What is Mai Tai?
As the story says, in the year 1944, a person called Victor Bergeron prepared a new drink for his friend who came from Tahiti. His friend was very impressed by the blended drink. Actually in his drink Bergeron used rum, some orange Curacao from Holland, fresh lime juice, orgeat from French, rock candy syrup. He garnished this with lime wedges and mint sprig. Bergeron's friend after tasting the drink exclaimed, "Mai Tai-Roa Ae" (Meaning out of this world- The best. ) This is how the Mai Tai got its name.
How do we get ORGEAT syrup?
Almonds, water, sugar, orange flower water are the ingredients of orgeat syrup. This is the reason for the appearance of the tropical cocktail. Orange flower water gives the orgeat a special taste. Now let's check out the two different recipes of Mai Tai.
Fresh lemon juice- 30 ml
White rum- 30 ml
Aged rum- 30 ml
Lemon wedge- 1
Simple syrup- 7 ml
Curacao- 30 ml
Mint sprig- 1
Orgeat- 7 ml
*Take a cocktail shaker.
*Add white rum, aged rum, simple syrup, orgeat, curacao into the shaker.
*Squeeze half lemon juice in this mixture. *It is time to add ice to the shaker.
*Now shake the container vigorously until the outer part of the shaker becomes cold.
*This can be done for 20 seconds.
*Empty the shaker into cocktail glass.
*At the time of serving you can garnish this with mint sprig and left out half lemon wedge..

Fresh lime juice- 1 1/2 tablespoons
Pineapple juice- 1/4 cup
Orgeat syrup or simple syrup-1 tablespoon
White rum- 2 tablespoons
Dark rum- 1 tablespoon
Dry orange curacao- 1 tablespoon
Maraschino cherry juice- 1 teaspoon
*Take a cocktail shaker.
*Add white rum, dark rum, pineapple juice, maraschino cherry juice, curacao, fresh lime juice, orgeat syrup to the shaker.
*Now add the required amount of ice.
*Shake the container well for about 20 seconds.
*Empty the shaker into rocks glass.
*At the time of serving, garnish it with pineapple slices, mint sprig and cherry.
